Description
Here is the official builder's photograph, and apparently the only known photograph in existence, of a one-of-a-kind Lindner compound Class D15 4-4-0 locomotive, built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in it's Altoona Shops in 1892. It had very British lines with a full-length footplate, splashers, a six wheel tender, and large 84 inch drivers. This engine, No. 1515, was the only member of its class, and it is unknown when it was scrapped. I consider it a shame only one of this type was made, for if any American railroad could be one to make designs inspired by locomotives from Britain, combined with experimentation in compounding, it would be the Pennsylvania, a great railroad from my home state.
I do not own this photograph. It belonged to the now long-since demised Pennsylvania Railroad.

One of the few steam engines to have a mixture of American and British influences in its own design.
